What are Accusative Prepositions?
Some prepositions in German always take the accusative case. This means the object following these prepositions must be in the accusative form.
Common Prepositions with Accusative

Examples of Prepositions with Accusative
1. Ich gehe durch den Park. (I am walking through the park.)
2. Das Geschenk ist für dich. (The gift is for you.)
3. Wir spielen gegen die Mannschaft. (We are playing against the team.)
4. Ich kann nicht ohne meinen Schlüssel gehen. (I cannot go without my key.)
5. Wir treffen uns um 8 Uhr. (We are meeting at 8 o'clock.)
6. Warte bis nächsten Montag! (Wait until next Monday!)
7. Wir gehen den Fluss entlang. (We are walking along the river.)
Additional Notes
In German, it is important to decline the object that follows an accusative preposition correctly.
For masculine nouns, “der” changes to “den” in the accusative case.
